  • 1 cup water The canvas for our colors!
  • 1 tbsp food coloring Feel free to mix and match your favorite colors.
  • 1 tsp baking soda This will create a fun fizzing reaction.
  • 1 tsp vinegar The perfect partner for baking soda to create those bubbly fireworks.

Equipment

  • Clear Glass Jar
  • Separate bowl
  • Small Bowl

Method

  1. Step 1: Begin by pouring the vegetable oil into the clear glass jar. You will notice how it sits on top of the jar, creating a lovely layer.
  2. Step 2: In a separate bowl, mix the water with your chosen food coloring until well combined. You can use just one color or get creative with multiple shades!
  3. Step 3: Slowly pour the colored water into the jar with the vegetable oil. Take a moment to observe how the liquids separate. It’s a beautiful sight!
  4. Step 4: In a small bowl, combine the baking soda and vinegar. Watch as it fizzes like a mini volcano.
  5. Step 5: Carefully add the baking soda and vinegar mixture to the jar. You will be amazed as the colors bubble and create a sparkling effect that mimics fireworks!

Notes

While this recipe is best enjoyed fresh, you can store your jar in a cool, dry place. However, the fizzing effect will eventually settle down, so try to enjoy it as soon as possible for the full experience!
