Ingredients

For the Air Fryer Steak
  • 2 steaks ribeye, sirloin, or striploin 1-inch thick
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for coating the steak
  • 1 tbsp salted butter melted
  • steak seasoning to taste, can include salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp steak butter or garlic herb butter optional, for serving

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Tongs

Method

  1. Step 1: Bring steaks to room temperature by letting them sit out of the fridge for at least 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  2. Step 2: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to get a nice sear on the steaks right away.
  3. Step 3: Brush or rub the steaks on both sides with olive oil and melted butter. Season generously with your preferred steak seasoning.
  4. Step 4: Place steaks in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 8 to 12 minutes, flipping once halfway through. Time depends on desired doneness (8 minutes for medium-rare).
  5. Step 5: Remove steaks and let rest on a plate for at least 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  6. Step 6: Optionally top steaks with a pat of steak butter or garlic herb butter before serving for added richness and flavor.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer for best results: 125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium, and 160°F for well-done. Rest your steak covered loosely with foil to keep warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3–4 days or freeze for 2–3 months.
