  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts the star of the dish, tender and juicy
  • 1 cup chocolate syrup adds unique sweetness

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese everything is better with cheese
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms adds earthy flavor and texture
  • 1 cup chopped green onions for fresh crunch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder a must for flavor
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder complements garlic beautifully
  • to taste salt and pepper essential for seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for searing the chicken

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Step 2: Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Step 3: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Step 4: In a bowl, mix the chocolate syrup and barbecue sauce until well combined.
  5. Step 5: In a baking dish, place the seared chicken breasts. Pour the chocolate-barbecue sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring it's well coated.
  6. Step 6: Sprinkle the sliced mushrooms and chopped green onions on top of the chicken. Finally, add the shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Step 7: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes of baking to allow the cheese to melt and bubble.
  8. Step 8: Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot with your choice of sides.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This dish also freezes well; let it cool completely before transferring to a freezer-safe container.
