- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Step 3: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Step 4: In a bowl, mix the chocolate syrup and barbecue sauce until well combined.
- Step 5: In a baking dish, place the seared chicken breasts. Pour the chocolate-barbecue sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring it's well coated.
- Step 6: Sprinkle the sliced mushrooms and chopped green onions on top of the chicken. Finally, add the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Step 7: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes of baking to allow the cheese to melt and bubble.
- Step 8: Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot with your choice of sides.
