Long Island Iced Coffee

There's something special about a drink that combines the rich flavors of coffee with a kick of spirits. The first time I sipped a Long Island Iced Coffee, I was instantly transported to a sunny afternoon, laughing with friends and enjoying life. It’s a drink that’s not only delicious but also incredibly easy to whip up.

  • 1/2 oz Vodka A classic spirit that adds a smoothness to the drink.
  • 1/2 oz Gin For a hint of botanical flavor.
  • 1/2 oz Rum Adds a touch of sweetness.
  • 1/2 oz Tequila For that extra kick!
  • 1 oz Coffee Liqueur like Kahlúa, where the coffee flavor shines.
  • 1 oz Fresh Brewed Coffee cooled, use your favorite brew for the best taste.
  • 1 oz Simple Syrup To sweeten things up just right.
  • 1 oz Cream or Milk For a rich, creamy finish.
  • Ice cubes Essential for a refreshing drink.
  • Coffee beans or chocolate shavings for garnish, a lovely finishing touch!

Equipment

  • Tall Glass or Cocktail Shaker
  • Separate Shaker
  • Strainer

Method

  1. Step 1: Prepare Your Glass: Start by filling a tall glass or a cocktail shaker with ice cubes to chill. This will keep your drink nice and cold!
  2. Step 2: Mix the Spirits: In a separate shaker, combine the vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and coffee liqueur. Shake well to mix the spirits thoroughly.
  3. Step 3: Add Coffee and Syrup: Pour in the cooled brewed coffee and simple syrup. Shake again until everything is well combined.
  4. Step 4: Strain into Glass: Strain the mixture into your prepared glass filled with ice. Watch as the beautiful colors swirl together.
  5. Step 5: Add Cream: Slowly pour the cream or milk over the top of the drink. This will create a stunning layering effect.
  6. Step 6: Garnish: Top it off with coffee beans or chocolate shavings for that extra flair!
  7. Step 7: Serve: Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer for mixing. Enjoy!

Notes

If you find yourself with leftovers, you can store the drink in the fridge for a few hours. However, I recommend enjoying it fresh for the best taste.
