  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk whole milk is best
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • Butter, for cooking
  • Maple syrup, for serving
  • Powdered sugar, for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh fruit, for serving (optional)

Method
 

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Step 2: Cut each Hawaiian roll in half horizontally to create a top and bottom half.
  3. Step 3: Dip each half of the Hawaiian roll into the egg mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
  4. Step 4: In a large skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Place the soaked Hawaiian roll halves in the skillet, cooking them for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Step 5: Add more butter as needed and repeat the process with the remaining rolls.
  6. Step 6: Stack the French toast on a plate, drizzle with maple syrup, and sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
