Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven according to the cake mix package instructions. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan to prevent sticking.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until everything is well combined and smooth.
- Step 3: Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and bake according to the package instructions, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Step 4: Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for about 15 minutes.
- Step 5: Using the end of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the surface of the cake. This is where all that delicious caramel goodness will soak in!
- Step 6: In a separate bowl, mix together the caramel sauce and sweetened condensed milk. Pour this heavenly mixture over the warm cake, making sure it fills the holes nicely.
- Step 7: Allow the cake to cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to let the flavors meld.
- Step 8: In another bowl, combine the whipped topping and powdered sugar, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
- Step 9: Spread the whipped topping mixture over the cooled cake.
- Step 10: Drizzle additional caramel sauce on top and sprinkle with chopped pecans for a gorgeous finish.
- Step 11: Slice and serve chilled for a refreshing dessert.
