Method
- Step 1: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt until well combined.
- Step 2: Gradually add the whole milk to the dry ingredients, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
- Step 3: Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook the mixture, whisking constantly, until it begins to thicken and bubble. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- Step 4: Once thickened, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the chopped dark chocolate and vanilla extract. Keep stirring until the chocolate is fully melted and incorporated.
- Step 5: Pour the pudding into individual serving dishes or a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming.
- Step 6: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until chilled and set.
- Step 7: Before serving, top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if desired.
Notes
Your delicious pudding can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Just make sure to keep it covered tightly to maintain its creamy texture.
