Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Step 2: Cut the cabbage into 1/2-inch thick steaks, keeping them as even as possible.
- Step 3: Coat both sides of the cabbage steaks evenly with olive oil using a pastry brush or your hands. Place them flat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Step 4: Season the cabbage steaks generously with salt and black pepper.
- Step 5: Bake for 12 minutes. Carefully flip the steaks using a spatula and bake for another 12 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Step 6: While the cabbage roasts, fry the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Step 7: Once the cabbage steaks are done, sprinkle the crispy bacon bits over each steak.
- Step 8: Garnish with fresh parsley.
- Step 9: Serve immediately, enjoying the steaks hot and crispy right out of the oven.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle smoked paprika or garlic powder before baking. Swap bacon for crispy fried shallots, toasted nuts, or vegetarian bacon alternatives. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a toaster oven or regular oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 8 minutes to restore crispiness; avoid microwaving.
