Method
- Step 1: Draw a simple turtle outline on black construction paper. Cut out the stencil carefully to use as a guide.
- Step 2: Lay wax paper or a plastic sheet flat on your work surface. Place the turtle stencil underneath so the outline is visible through the wax paper.
- Step 3: Using a paintbrush or dropper, spread clear glue evenly over the turtle outline on the wax paper, covering the shape fully but not too thickly.
- Step 4: Carefully add drops of food coloring or liquid watercolors onto the wet glue, letting colors blend naturally for a beautiful effect.
- Step 5: Optionally, sprinkle glitter or sequins onto the wet glue for extra sparkle.
- Step 6: Allow the suncatcher to dry completely for several hours or preferably overnight until hard and translucent.
- Step 7: Once dry, carefully peel the suncatcher off the wax paper. Attach a string or suction cup hook and hang it in a sunny window to enjoy.
Notes
Store your dried suncatcher flat between sheets of wax or tissue paper to prevent damage. Keep indoors or in sheltered windows to avoid moisture or wind damage. Try different shapes or add beads for texture. Avoid rushing drying to prevent tearing.
