Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the frozen hashbrowns, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, cheddar cheese, diced onion, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and the cooked bacon if you are using it. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  3. Step 3: In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread half of the crushed Doritos evenly on the bottom.
  4. Step 4: Pour the hashbrown mixture over the layer of Doritos and spread it out evenly.
  5. Step 5: Top the casserole with the remaining crushed Doritos for that extra crunch.
  6. Step 6: Sprinkle the additional cup of shredded cheese on top of the Doritos.
  7. Step 7: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  8. Step 8: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Step 9: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can easily be prepared ahead of time. Just assemble it, cover it, and store it in the fridge until you're ready to bake!
