Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan to ensure easy release.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set this aside for later.
- Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until it’s light and fluffy.
- Step 4: Add the eggs one at a time, making sure to mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Start and end with the dry ingredients.
- Step 6: Gently fold in the chopped apples.
- Step 7: Pour the batter into your prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes.
- Step 8: While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar and butter. Stir until melted and smooth, then add the heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
- Step 9: Once the cake is done, allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Step 10: Drizzle the warm glaze over the cooled cake before serving.
