Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Step 4: Add eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla to the mashed bananas, and mix well.
  5. Step 5: Gradually add dry ingredients to the banana mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Step 6: Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
  7. Step 7: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Step 8: Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes, then carefully roll it up in the parchment paper from the short side while still warm. Let it cool completely.
  9. Step 9: Once cooled, unroll the cake and spread a layer of whipped cream or frosting if desired, then roll it back up.
  10. Step 10: Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
