Equipment

  • 9x13-inch Baking Dish

Method

  1. Step 1: Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. Set aside.
  2. Step 2: In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add 3 cups of mini marshmallows and stir until fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Step 3: Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
  4. Step 4: Divide the mixture into three separate bowls. In the first bowl, add a few drops of red food coloring and mix until you achieve your desired shade. In the second bowl, leave the mixture plain (white). In the third bowl, add a few drops of blue food coloring and mix until you achieve your desired shade.
  5. Step 5: In the greased baking dish, press the red Rice Krispie mixture into an even layer at the bottom. Next, press the plain Rice Krispie mixture on top of the red layer. Finally, press the blue Rice Krispie mixture on top.
  6. Step 6: Allow the layered Rice Krispie treats to cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, cut into squares or rectangles.
  7. Step 7: Top with sprinkles for a festive touch.
